Man arrested for stealing pastry worth $1.29

A Palm Bay, Florida, man was jailed after he allegedly stole a glazed honey bun from a local 7-Eleven.

Brandon Phillips, who is 18 years old, grabbed the pastry, stuffed it into his pants and fled the store.

According to police, Phillips entered the store, took the honey bun and hid it in his pants.

The store clerk tried to confront him. However, Phillips jumped on a "bicycle getaway" and fled the scene.

Officers used a canine police dog that traced Phillips. The supposed "getaway bike" was found between two houses within walking distance of the store.

The store clerk positively identified Phillips as the suspect and he was arrested. The $1.29 glazed honey bun was never found.

Phillips was booked into the Brevard County Jail and charged with retail petit theft, resisting arrest without violence and resisting in recovering stolen goods. His bail was set at $1000.
