(Scroll down for video) A couple who credited their marriage to their same first and last names are now calling it quits.
They share the same name, but even that is not enough to keep these two together.
Kelly Hildebrandt and Kelly Hildebrandt, decided to pull the plug on their marriage of three years after learning that identical names do not contribute to happiness and eternal marriage.
"We did our best", the male Hildebrandt, Kelly Carl Hildebrandt, said.
The couple, whose unlikely romance sprouted from Facebook, attracted national attention. They recently filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences."
"She is a girl from Florida, and I'm a man from Texas," Kelly Carl Hildebrandt of Lubbock, Texas, said. "We really came from pretty different worlds," he added.
The couple’s story began one night, when the bored female Hildebrandt, Kelly Katrina Hildebrandt, typed her name on Facebook to see if someone shared her name. She found one person who shared her name, but it was a guy. She messaged him and that eventually led to their marriage.
Kelly Carl Hildebrandt has moved back to Lubbock, Texas, with the couple's dog. "That's where all my connections are," he said.
"It's been great since I got back," he added. The male Hildebrandt, who works in financial services, said that the experience will make him think twice before marrying another person with the same name.
"I do not want my future spouse to have to deal with everything from before," he said. "That would not be a fair situation, given the coverage of the media," he added.
