(Scroll down for video) Police officers who were chasing after a vehicle, shot and killed the driver despite the visible presence of a little child sitting in the front seat, according to press reports in Phoenix, Arizona.
Phoenix Police said that the 5-year-old boy was sitting inside the car passenger seat when police fired on the vehicle and fatally shot the driver.
Sergeant Trent Crump said the motorist fled from a traffic stop Monday night, after he appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Crump said that police officers then fired at the car, which killed the driver after the vehicle hit a
brick wall of a house.
The man tried to drive first in one direction toward the officers and then in another direction towards a different police officer.
Crump said that the was not injured.
Police have not released any identities. However, family members of the dead man identified him as Vincent Jimenez, a single father of five children.
