A woman was arrested on charges of child abuse after she allegedly Tasered her young nephew, police in Florida said.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said that they arrested 30-year-old Ramona Braswell, on one count of child abuse after being accused of intentionally shooting her 3-year-old nephew.
Braswell was arrested in her home, which is located at 2820 S. Fifth Street shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. She was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $5,000 bail on Saturday night.
According to the police investigation, the child’s mother, Karen Braswell, told officers that she was in another room of the house when she heard her son Rodney scream.
When she went to check on him, she found her sister, Ramona Braswell, standing near her son while holding a stun gun. Ramona Braswell was laughing and activating the stun gun.
The child told his mother that Ramona Braswell had shocked him on his left arm and it hurt.
Ramona Braswell denied touching the child with the device, but the marks on his left arm confirmed that it had contact with his skin.
When questioned by police, Braswell denied touching the child, but admitted she was playing with the stun gun near the child, and at one point put the stun gun on his arm, but did not activate it.
She said the device belonged to a friend and she was just playing with it. The sisters called the situation a big misunderstanding.
