(Scroll down for video) A baby was born with her heart completely outside her body.
Miraculously, the baby was released from a hospital, according to hospital officials in Texas.
The now three-month-old baby born with her heart outside her body, left the hospital on Thursday, with the vital organ safely inside her chest.
Audrina Cardenes was born with a rare condition called ectopia cordis, which is usually fatal.
A qualified team of surgeons at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston, operated on Audrina’s strong but exposed heart, and new photos of the procedure were published Thursday, showing her wearing a heart shield.
"Only eight of every 1 million babies are born with ectopia cordis, and 90 percent of these babies are stillborn or die within the first 3 days of life," the official blog of the hospital said after Audrina’s surgery.
Two months after the surgery to reposition her heart inside her chest, the baby left the hospital and went home to her waiting family.
