Woman wakes up to find stranger's baby sleeping in her bed

A woman was shocked to find a sleeping baby in her bed, according to police in Michigan.

The woman of Battle Creek, who was not identified, awoke to discover the mystery baby in her bed.

She immediately called the police, who came and took the child into their care.

According to the initial police investigation, the son of the woman left the baby in the home before going out for the night.

He failed to notify his mother about the baby even though the child was not a relative. Battle Creek Police said that the child became an instant hit with the officers on duty.

They tried to comfort the child with Matchbox cars, teddy bears and Beanie Babies, until agents of child services arrived. Child protective services is continuing to investigate the incident.

The baby has since been identified, and is in the process of being returned to the mother.
