(Scroll down for video) A thief got so scared when he heard Jesus, that he fled in panic, according to eyewitnesses at the scene in Florida.
At first, those gathered in the house of Jacquie Hagler for a jewelry party, thought the intruder that suddenly showed up in the room was simply part of an elaborate hoax to make fun of the women.
"It's just a water pistol," one woman said while brushing away the gun allegedly brandished by Derick Lee, who entered the house with a ski mask and a scarf on his face.
Witnesses said that Lee, then pointed the gun to the woman's head and announced: "I'm not kidding, I'm going to kill someone, give me your money."
He also showed the women some live bullets inside the gun before they could be convinced that the attempted robbery was real.
What Lee did not expect was a spiritual response.
"When I realized what was happening, I stood up and said: ‘In the name of Jesus, get out of my house now,’” Hagler said. “He said, 'I'm going to kill someone.’ Then, I said again, with real courage, ‘Jesus,’” Hagler said.
"Everyone began to sing: ‘Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,’ and he did a quick scan of the room and ran out the door as fast as he could go," Hagler added.
Lee, 24, was arrested Friday night at his home, and was identified by several attendees at the jewelry party during a series of police line ups. He is currently being held on $200,000 bail.
