Residents were shocked when a female torso was discovered inside an apartment garbage container, according to police reports in Ontario, Canada.

Homicide detectives are investigating after the human torso was found in a trash can in Kitchener, Ontario.

Police said the remains were discovered about 11:00 a.m. Saturday, behind an apartment building on the north end of the city.

Detectives said that the torso is that of a white woman of unknown age and identity.

Police said the woman was wearing a black shirt with the words "Forget princess I want to be a vampire" written on the front.

Inspector Kevin Thaler said that police want to hear from anyone who has seen suspicious activity in the area.

"There are people out there who know what happened and why," Thaler said.

"We appeal to anyone with information about this to come forward in order to give comfort to the family to at least identify who this person is," he added.

Police have not recovered any other body parts.

Waterloo Regional Police issued a press release on Tuesday stating that they had identified the victim as Kelsey Louise Felker, 24, of Kitchener, Ontario.
