|Laurel’s cake and note|
Coming out of the “closet," is never easy.
One does not know how their family and friends will react - if they would be accepted for it or rejected.
Many gays have been rejected by their families for their decision.
One 15-year-old boy, named Laurel, has told his friends that he was gay. They accepted it and they continued being friends with him.
When it came to his parents, Laurel was very nervous to reveal his lifestyle choice to them. So he came up with a creative way of doing it.
Laurel baked a cake for his mom and dad and he wrote "I'm gay" with icing on top. The sweet part was the lighthearted letter that he added to the cake.
Here is what the letter said:
Good morning parents. I'm gay. I've wanted to tell you for a long time. I thought doing it this way would be a piece of cake. I hope you still love me. I mean, it's hard not to love someone who baked you a cake. All my friends know I’m gay and still love me. Your acceptance would be the icing on the cake. I hope you, much like this cake, are not in tiers. I hope we can look back on this and say "boy, this one really takes the cake." Love, Laurel (sorry for so many puns)
After his parents saw the cake with the letter, Laurel, wrote: "My mother saw the cake and wept for joy, and we hugged and cried together. Then we all ate the cake and we talked. I am very lucky to have such supportive parents.
