(Scroll down for video) A high school teacher was arrested, charged and convicted of rape after having sex with two male students, prosecutors in New York said.
Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced that the former Ridgewood Queens high school physical education teacher has pleaded guilty to having sexual contact with two male students.
40-year-old Joy Morsi of Massapequa, Long Island, pleaded guilty to third-degree rape and third-degree criminal sexual act before Queens Supreme Court Justice Dorothy Chin-Brandt, who ordered the defendant to complete one year of outpatient mental health treatment for a diagnosed depressive disorder.
If Morsi completes the treatment successfully, she will be sentenced to ten years probation. Otherwise, she could face 1 and a half years in prison as well as 5 years post release supervision.
In addition, Morsi must register with the state’s Division of Criminal Justice Services as a sex offender and undergo a SORA (Sex Offender Risk Assessment) Hearing to assess her risk of reoffending.
Morsi also signed an agreement surrendering her teaching
According to the police investigation, Morsi engaged in sexual acts with two students on the grounds of Grover Cleveland High School, which is located at 21-27 Himrod Street
in Ridgewood, Queens.
Morsi had sex in the school basement and other areas on campus with the first victim, who was 16 years old when the relationship began.
She exposed herself to the second victim, also 16 years old, and performed a sex act on him.
