A man was arrested, charged and convicted of sodomy after sodomizing a young girl in his car, prosecutors in California said.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that 48-year-old Victor Martinez of Azusa, was sentenced to 25 years in state prison.
Last month, Martinez pleaded no contest to four felony counts: sodomy by use of force on victim under 14, sexual penetration by foreign object, dissuading a witness from reporting a crime and lewd act upon a child.
Judge Robert M. Martinez also ordered the defendant to register as a sex offender for life.
Deputy District Attorney Babette Huley, who prosecuted the case, said that Martinez was a friend of the 10-year-old victim’s family.
According to the police investigation, the victim went with Martinez in his car to get some food. During the car ride, Martinez took the girl to a parking lot and sexually assaulted her.
After the attack, Martinez ordered the girl not to tell anyone what happened. Two days later, the girl told her mother about the assault and authorities were called.
During the investigation, law enforcement learned that Martinez had previously molested the girl. Soon after, law enforcement located the defendant and he was arrested and held on $1.2 million bail.
