(Scroll down for video) A church choir director was arrested on charges of sodomy after having a long relationship with a child, police in California said.
The Sacramento Police Department said that they arrested 42-year-old Kareem Mitchell, after receiving a report of an alleged sexual relationship, initiated by Mitchell, which occurred several years prior, and involved a minor.
The now adult victim indicated that the relationship began many years ago and lasted for three years.
The investigation revealed that Mitchell met the victim while working as a choir director at the New Testament Baptist Church in North Highlands.
Mitchell had been investigated related to similar allegations in the past while working as the choir director, but charges were never filed.
Sacramento Police detectives in conjunction with the Sacramento District Attorney’s Office obtained a warrant for Mitchell’s arrest.
Mitchell was taken into custody at police headquarters after being interviewed by detectives.
He was then transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail and booked for multiple charges, including sodomy, oral copulation and other sexual acts.
The Sacramento Police Department urges anyone that may believe they were a victim of any crimes associated with Mitchell, to contact the Sacramento Police Department.
