(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested, charged and convicted of vandalism after smashing police car windows with metal stakes, prosecutors in California said.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that 28-year-old Leyston Rice, was sentenced to serve a year in county jail for smashing the windows of a Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) car in Hollywood.
Rice pleaded no contest to one count of felony vandalism.
He was also placed on probation for five years, ordered to attend 26 anger management classes and must pay $4,782.97 in restitution.
According to the police investigation, two LAPD officers parked their squad car in front of the Hollywood & Highland Center.
When the officers returned, they found five of the car’s windows broken. Witnesses recorded the incident on video. Rice can be seen using metal stakes to smash the windows, prosecutors said.
