(Scroll down for video) A man will spend the rest of his life in prison over his latest Driving While Intoxicated charge.
The man of Texas, was sentenced on Wednesday, to two life sentences behind bars for drunk driving.
The sentence seems harsh. However, the prosecutor said that Bobby Gene Martin, 64, had his 10th DWI.
In the latest incident, Martin crashed his mother’s truck while driving drunk. He then asked a tow truck driver to take him home so that does not get another DWI charge.
The driver refused to take him home. Officers who responded, found Martin in waist-deep in water in a nearby drainage ditch.
His blood alcohol level was more than 2 and a half times the legal limit. “Martin threatened to kill not only the officer who arrested him, but also his wife, his children and his mother,” Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Kyle Crowl said.
After being booked into jail, Martin kept threatening to beat the officer. The jury deliberated for just three hours before finding him guilty of DWI after learning of his previous crimes and his repeated stints in jail.
