A man was arrested on charges of arson after allegedly walking into a restaurant bathroom and setting it on fire, prosecutors in California said.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that 42-year-old David Lin, pleaded not guilty in connection with setting the restaurant bathroom on fire.
Lin of West Covina, was charged with one felony count of arson of property. Additionally, the charging document alleges that Lin was previously convicted of vandalism twice.
The defendant was at Ten Ren’s Tea Time in Walnut, when he entered the bathroom and set the toilet on fire. After he exited the bathroom, a customer entered and noticed a fire, at which point authorities were called.
Later that day, police apprehended Lin and arrested him in connection with the fire incident. Lin is scheduled to appear before the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pomona Branch in Department N.
If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a maximum sentence of three years in state prison.
