A female jail teacher was arrested, charged and convicted of having unlawful sex after being caught having sex with a male inmate, prosecutors in California said.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that the former Pitchess Detention Center teacher pleaded no contest to having unlawful sexual contact with the inmate.
Deputy District Attorney Melyssa Avola said that Lisa Nichole Leroy, 33, entered the plea to one misdemeanor count of sexual activity with a detainee in a detention facility.
Leroy was immediately sentenced to three years summary probation and 40 hours of community service.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Valerie Salkin of the Santa Clarita Branch also ordered her to attend 24 counseling sessions, to stay away from all penal institutions and from the victim while on probation.
The probation terms also prohibit Leroy from teaching inmates or minors. Leroy had sexual contact with the adult inmate while they were in a jail classroom, the prosecutor said.
