A man was arrested, charged and convicted of sexual assault after performing a sex act on a 4-year-old girl, prosecutors in California said.
Now, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that the 45-year-old man who was convicted of sexually assaulting two young girls was sentenced to 24 years and eight months to life in state prison.
William Edward Burch of Long Beach, was found guilty by a jury of oral copulation with a child 10 years old or younger, using a minor for sex acts, child molesting and lewd act upon a child.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Tomson T. Ong also ordered the defendant to register as a sex offender for life. Deputy District Attorney Kelly Kelley, who prosecuted the case, said that Burch sexually assaulted a 4-year-old girl.
Two years later, the defendant molested a 9-year-old girl, the prosecutor said. Soon after the second incident, police were notified and Burch was arrested in connection with the crimes.
