A young man was arrested on charges of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing his former girlfriend's mother and her partner, prosecutors in California said.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced that 29-year-old Cameron Reed Hansen was charged with stabbing his former girlfriend’s mother and her roommate at a Burbank home when they tried to stop an attack on his former partner.
Hansen faces two counts of attempted murder and one count of injuring a girlfriend. Hansen pleaded not guilty to the charges at Department 1 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Burbank Branch.
According to the police investigation, Hansen went to his former girlfriend’s home, where he allegedly bit and attacked her.
When her mother and her roommate came to her aid, the defendant is accused of stabbing both women multiple times. Bail for Hansen was set at more than $2 million.
If convicted as charged, the maximum possible sentence is life in state prison.
