A woman was arrested on charges of murder after allegedly setting up an armed robbery on her boyfriend that got him killed, prosecutors in New York said.

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown announced that a 30-year-old South Ozone Park, Queens, woman has been charged with murder and other charges in the shooting death of her boyfriend, during a botched robbery attempt she allegedly orchestrated with a gunman.

Queens District Attorney Brown said: “The defendant is accused of arranging to have her boyfriend robbed, but the victim scuffled with the gunman, and was shot and killed. This is yet another example of the senseless gun violence in our community that must end. The defendant now faces being
locked behind bars for the rest of her life.”

The District Attorney identified the defendant as Natasha Mohabeer, 30, of 109-48 126 Street in the South Ozone Park neighborhood of Queens.

The defendant is awaiting arraignment in Queens Criminal Court on a criminal complaint charging her with second-degree felony murder, attempted first-degree robbery and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

If convicted, the defendant faces up to 25 years to life in prison. The defendant coordinated with an unapprehended male accomplice to rob Michael Jonathan.

The victim allegedly scuffled with the gunman and was shot in the torso. Jonathan was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
